Is Now a Good Time to Buy a House in San Diego?
by Peter Ariza, Broker Associate

This is probably the number one question I get right now — and I totally get it. With everything
going on in the market, people want to make the right move. So, is now a good time to buy in
San Diego?
The answer is: it depends on your situation — but for a lot of people, it actually is.
Here’s what I’m seeing: mortgage rates have been higher than a couple years ago, but
they’ve started to settle. And sellers who are on the market today? They’re serious. That
means there’s room to negotiate — something we didn’t see much during the crazy
post-pandemic bidding wars. Here’s why buying now might make sense: – There’s a little less
competition out there — fewer bidding wars – You’ve got more breathing room to make
decisions – You can always refinance later if rates go down – San Diego homes tend to grow in
value long-term If you’re waiting for the market to crash — you might be waiting a long time.
Our inventory is still low, builders aren’t building fast enough, and San Diego is one of the
most desirable cities in the country. Real estate is about timing, yes — but more importantly,
it’s about how long you hold the property. Whether it’s your first home, a move-up property, or
an investment, the long game is where people build real wealth.
My advice? Let’s chat.
I can walk you through what’s going on in the specific neighborhoods you’re looking at, connect you
with a great lender, and even get you access to off-market properties.
When you work with someone who lives and breathes San Diego real estate, timing becomes strategy — not guesswork.
